A Navy seal trainer was once asked…
“Who makes it through your training?”
His reply was interesting.
I can’t tell you upfront who makes it through. But I can tell you upfront who doesn’t make it through.
The star college athlete, who has never really been tested to the core of their being, none of them make it through.
The preening leaders who like to delegate everything? None of them make it through.
The big, tough guys with huge muscles covered in tattoos, who want to prove to the world how tough they are? None of them make it through.
Some of the guys that make it through are skinny and scrawny. Some of the guys who make it through you will see them shivering out of fear.
But every single person who makes it through, when they’re emotionally exhausted, when they’re physically exhausted… some way, some how… they’re able to dig down deep inside themselves and find the energy to…
Help the person next to them.
Service… giving to another… helping out, even when you are at “the edge” yourself… uplifting and supporting and inspiring others is where we can find our greatest potential.
It’s NOT strength, it’s NOT intelligence, it’s our willingness to be there for each other that will allow us to achieve our full potential and highest level of success.
