D.W.D.?

I almost got stopped for a D.W.D. And it could have cost me A LOT to get out of “PURPOSE PRISON.”

As I dropped Ricky off this morning and was driving home something didn’t feel right.

You know, because typically every morning, I jump out of bed ready to conquer, fired up for the day, right?

Yeah, right! NO. That’s not me at all. I AM NOT an early riser – at least not by choice.

Truth is, every day getting up out of bed can be a struggle. I don’t wake up with that fire. I wake up feeling low energy, my mind is dragging, and a voice in my head is typically feeding me negative thoughts.

Especially, this morning as I drove home. I was alone (again) knowing I would not be seeing Shelly when I got home, rather a cold, seemingly empty house.

That’s why I was risking getting arrested for a D.W.D. You know… “Driving While Discouraged.”

Even though just recently I had a wonderful conversation with my sister, Krystal, who encouraged me and uplifted me beyond what I deserve and reminded me of my infinite purpose.

Still… there I was. D.W.D.

Don’t fool yourself. I face the same discouraging thoughts probably you do every day. And EVERY day, if I am to be productive, I have to reignite the fire inside of me with what I like to call “connection.”

Typically, I pray… and connect with God. And that also tends to connect me with the people I love the most. It connects my mind and spirit with serving others…

Then, when I stand up from kneeling in prayer I make it a point to “stand tall” and face the world with confidence and faith. That connects my mind and spirit with my body.

This morning, as I started a load of laundry and washed some dishes (things I always did for Shelly that she loved) I felt connected to her and her presence near and I was reminded that I am STILL happily serving her (Shelly) as I work to serve myself and my kids.

And that thought process ALWAYS helps me to visualize the highest version of myself, and connect me to my purpose.

It’s funny to me how my connection with others ALWAYS ignites my fire.

I pray that you’re like that, too. That when you feel connected to those you love, you realize that there’s work to be done, too.

We’re here to make progress.

And when we’re in a place where we feel connected, that’s when we can ask ourselves some GREAT questions. And find even better answers.

What must we do TODAY to get closer to our full Heavenly potential?

What must we do to get one step closer to being the person who lives with purpose? When we feel that connection to our bigger self, that ignites the fire, doesn’t it?

I fear that many get stressed out because they don’t have that connection.

Peace is a product of our connection with God. Abundance is a product of our connection with the world. Impact is a product of our connection with strangers. Our relationships are a product of our connections with those we love. Whether they’re here with us… or waiting for us on the other side… I imagine…

Rooting us on. Cheering for us. Hoping for us. Watching us. Proud of us, even?

For doing laundry? For washing dishes? I’d like to hope so.

For me, reigniting that fire every day is about moving towards that connection every day.

So here’s the challenge for all of us.

Connect today with the person inside you who has already accomplished your goals: That’s a “bigger” version of you, right?

Connect today with God, or whomever or whatever you think is guiding you towards your purpose.

Connect with the people around you and ignite their fire, so you can burn that fire together.

Connect with yourself. Give yourself permission to be worthy of the challenge. Give yourself permission to get back up and go into the battlefield and keep on fighting. The moment you really connect you have no choice but to “glow with light.”

There is nothing else we need to ignite that fire, because the fuel and the spark are already there within us, and we just need to connect the spark within us and the fuel within us to create the fire within us.

Frankly, it beats the heck out of getting pulled over for a D.W.D. and spending the day in a cell inside PURPOSE PRISON, right?

RIGHT?

Now, GLOW do it. I will be.
